Guy Trilby (Jason Bateman), een 40-jarige man, ontdekt een fout in de toelatingsregels van de Nationale Spelwedstrijd en besluit hiervan misbruik te maken. Eenmaal toegelaten in de competitie domineert hij met gemak zijn tegenstanders omdat - natuurlijk - zij alleen uit kinderen bestaan. Naarmate de competitie vordert leert hij één van zijn tegenstanders, een Indische jongen, beter kennen.
